Jake and his best friend Jonathan have lost their wives in a tragic accident. As Jake finds himself unable to put his life back together, Jonathan signs the two of them up for a grief counseling retreat in upstate New York. There they meet an odd ensemble of fellow mourners including a shy accountant, a burned-out metalhead, a wealthy sociopath, and a wounded pragmatist trying desperately to pull herself together. It doesn’t take long for Jake to realize that the perky woman running the retreat, Pam, hides a deeply-rooted darkness behind her relentlessly sunny demeanor, and her reasons for leading her charges “along the path to healing” are not benevolent. Desperate to feel something again, Jake pushes back against the charade of group therapy sessions and useless bonding exercises. Soon he discovers a wedge growing between him and Jonathan, and the last remnants of his old life begin to crumble.
